It is not known exactly when or how the Roselawn Library was formed. We do know that the original Library was housed in the former Roselawn post office, located on State Road 10 near the railroad crossing. The Library was moved to Brown’s Grocery store building on Kellar Street later, where it operated until 2006.

The Roselawn Library became a part of the Lake Village Memorial Township Library in the mid-70s, along with Morocco Community Library. The two Libraries formed the Newton County Contractual Library. This meant that Roselawn Library was governed by a Board of Trustees and was funded by property taxes. The contractual board paid the “parent Library” to provide administrative services. The Library operated as a contractual service until 1999, when it merged with Lake Village Memorial Township Library to form the Newton County Public Library system.
Roselawn Library moved into its current facility at 4421 East State Road 10 in October of 2006. The Library offers 12,300 square feet of collection space, private study rooms, reading areas, children’s programming space and a community room capable of seating 55.
